Now that everyone is aware of the goodness packed with drinking of traditional tea, so what makes oolong tea unique among the traditional tea family? Black tea (a.k.a Red tea in chinese) is 100% fermented, oolong tea is semi fermented and green tea is a non fermented tea. This makes oolong tea stands out from its family as it is packed with nutrients found in both black and green tea. Let us now take a closer look at the benefits of oolong tea in both English and Chinese version below:
1、Help to Lose Weight
Oolong tea contains lots of tea polyphenols which help reduce cholesterol, lower blood pressure and provide anti-oxidation, anti-aging and anti-cancer effects. Compared with black and green tea, oolong tea can not only reduce the absorption of carbohydrate and fatty foods, but also to promote fat burning, especially to reduce the accumulation of abdominal fat.
Japan has once conducted an experiment on water, green & oolong tea with regards to how it can help to improve the basic metabolic function of human body. The result was that water contains no special effects, while green tea was able to increase the metabolic function to burn 4 calories more per hour, and oolong tea, being the strongest, was able to increase the effect to 9 calories more per hour. In addition, this effect provided by oolong tea was able to last up to 5 hours, therefore, a cup of 300ml oolong tea, can help the body to burn up to 40 calories (equivalent to 15 mins of brisk walk or 10 mins of climbing up and down the staircase).
Using oolong tea for weight loss purposes, one cup of oolong tea is required before every 3 meals of a day. Hot oolong tea with no sugar added is highly recommended. Also, do not drink immediately after a meal, have at least 1 hour of allowance before consumption. During brewing, water temperature should be maintained at 80 to 90 degree Celsius; once brewed, tea should be consumed within 30 to 60 mins, otherwise, the nutrients in the tea will be oxidized.

用烏龍茶減肥,三餐前後都要喝一杯。最好喝熱茶,不加糖。而且,不要飯後馬上喝,隔1小時左右比較恰當。泡茶時,水溫要控制在80℃~90℃左右;泡好的茶要在30~60分鐘內喝掉,否則茶裡的營養成分會被氧化。

2、Prevention against Tooth Decay
Oolong tea has anti tooth decay effect. The cause of tooth decay is due to bacterial invasion into the tooth tissue, which produces enzymes and when it comes into contact with the sugar contained in the food, a reaction will occur which eventually lead to tooth decay.
Oolong tea contains polyphenols that can inhibit the production of enzymes. Therefore, a cup of oolong tea after a meal, can prevent tooth decay.

3、Anti-Aging Effect
Oolong tea contains the effect of promoting fats decomposition in the blood and is able to reduce the cholesterol content. A research conducted in 1994 on the effect of oolong tea has shown that oolong tea is exceptionally good for individuals with high blood lipids and high blood pressure. In addition, oolong tea contains vitamin C which promotes anti-aging effect. With sufficient daily intake of Vitamin C, drinking oolong tea can help maintain a high level of Vitamin C content in the blood while reducing the loss of Vitamin C content through urination.
On the other hand, oolong tea provides anti-tumor effect, improve the activation of lymphocytes and cells and strengthen immune system.
3、預防老化功效
烏龍茶具有促進分解血液中脂肪的功效,也能降低膽固醇的含量。國外一份1994年的烏龍茶功效實驗報告指出,烏龍茶對於高血脂和高血壓患者有相當好的療效。同時,烏龍茶有抗衰老的功效。維生素C具有抗衰老作用,在每日服用足夠份量維生素C情況下,飲用烏龍茶可以使血液中維生素C含量保持較高水平,尿液中維生素C排出量減少。
此外,烏龍茶也有抗腫瘤、提高淋巴細胞及細胞的活化作用,以及加強免疫功能、預防老化等作用。
